Amitabh Bachchan’s Cybercrime Caller Tune Discontinued from Today

The familiar caller tune featuring Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s voice, which warned users about cyber crime and online fraud, will no longer be heard starting Thursday.

According to a media report, the government has decided to withdraw the pre-recorded message, which used to play at the beginning of phone calls, effective today.

According to reports citing official sources, the message was part of a Central government campaign aimed at raising awareness about the growing threat of cyber fraud. It has now been withdrawn as the campaign has concluded.

Amitabh Bachchan had lent his voice to the initiative to help educate the public on cybercrime and digital safety. In the caller tune, which played before phone calls connected, Bachchan alerted listeners about common threats such as phishing, online scams, and identity theft.

“The campaign has come to an end, and therefore, the caller tune will be removed from today,” a source told the media.

The decision reportedly follows complaints from several users who found the caller tune frustrating—especially during emergencies when it delayed immediate call connection.

Recently, the megastar also made headlines for his witty responses to online trolls who mocked him over the now-viral cybercrime awareness message.

On Monday, Big B posted a seemingly random tweet on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “Ji haan huzoor, main bhi ek prashansak hoon. Toh?? (Yes, sir, I’m a fan too. So??).”

An X user, in response, trolled him by writing, “Toh phone pe bolna band kro bhay (So stop saying it on the phone),” criticising the actor for his cybercrime caller tune.

Unperturbed, Big B replied with a calm retort, “Sarkar ko bolo bhai, unhone jo kaha humne kar diya (Tell the government, I did what they told me to do).”

When another user commented, “Buddha sathiya gaya hai (The old man has gone senile),” Big B responded, “Ek din, Bhagwan naa kare voh din jaldi aaye, jab aap bhi sathiya jaaye (One day — God forbid it comes soon — you too will grow senile. But we have a saying here: ‘Jo satha, wo patha (The older, the wiser).”
