Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X Revealed, Offers Hypercar-Rivalling Performance

Chevrolet has launched the Corvette ZR1X. Combining the V8 from the ZR1 and the hybrid system from the Corvette E-Ray resulted in this version. The Corvette ZR1X will achieve a 0-100 Km/hr acceleration in less than 2 seconds!

Styling

In terms of styling, The Corvette ZR1X resembles the ZR1. The ZTK performance pack adds an aggressive bodykit, huge splitter and diffuser, as well as a giant rear wing. Additionally, parts focus on aerodynamics, such as canards and a gurney flap. This pack gives the supercar an astonishing 500 Kg of downforce.

The Corvette ZR1X, rivalling hypercars, is available in a hard-top or a convertible bodystyle. Chevrolet has also added magnetic ride control, which adjusts the suspension according to the road surface and provides the driver with a comfortable ride.

Engine

The Corvette ZR1X is powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 1064 HP and 1124 NM of torque. It is paired with an electric motor which develops 186 HP and 197 NM of torque. When combined, it produces an output of 1250 HP, sending power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The brand claims that the ZR1X can do a 0-100 Km/hr sprint in under 2 seconds. Additionally, it can achieve a sub-9-second quarter-mile time. Notably, the Corvette ZR1X produces 1g when accelerating and 1.9g when decelerating from 289 Km/hr to 193 Km/hr at Nurburgring’s Tiergarten section.

Braking

The Corvette ZR1X utilises carbon ceramic brakes with a 10-piston calliper braking setup in the front and a 6-piston setup at the rear. According to Chevrolet, the 16.5-inch carbon ceramic brake discs are the largest on any Corvette to date.

Market Positioning & Competition

Interestingly, the ZR1X isn’t a limited-edition model. It will be sold alongside the Corvette ZR1. In terms of competition, it rivals the Ferrari F80 and Mclaren W1 in terms of performance and acceleration.

However, we can safely assume that Chevrolet will price the Corvette ZR1X more in line with the rest of the Corvette lineup.
