A 32-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a speeding ambulance in the Dhantoli area earlier this month. Following a detailed investigation, Dhantoli Police have registered a case against the ambulance driver for reckless and negligent driving.
The incident took place between 4:15 am and 4:25 am on June 3, near Hardev Hotel on Cement Road, close to Kumbar Toli. The victim, Maroti Narayanrao Barve, a resident of Banosa, Daryapur in Amravati district, was found lying unconscious on the road. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared him dead.
Initially treated as an accidental death, further investigation revealed that Barve was walking along the road when he was struck by a white Maruti Omni ambulance (MP 28 DB 0573) being driven at high speed in a reckless manner.
Based on the findings, Dhantoli Police have booked the driver under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
